You are currently browsing the monthly archive for December 2008.

Beginning today I am going to limit the use of the internet to a few very basic, highly regimented activities. For the past five years the computer has been an extension of my arm. I live a totally connected life. I take in thousands of bytes of worthless information each day. But during this diet I am going to limit my cravings to some very basic things. So for now my news, blogs, twitter and facebook are all off the table for the rest of 2008. I am stripping away the security blanket that has become my electronic life for the rest of the month.
I am not going to bring my computer home at night and I won’t be working from home on off hours.
Yes, I will be checking email, but for now, only at the office and only once a day (not on the weekends or while I am on vacation).
If you see me, don’t ask how it’s going… I can tell you right now it’s just like every other diet I have ever been on, I hate it. In a few weeks, I’ll share my thoughts about the experience. During this diet, I am going to try something that is wild, I am going to try to journal with a pen and paper. I’ll be excited to discover how these ancient tools really work.
Not to worry about the contest below, I’ll have my highly trained office personal make sure there is a winner.
