The other day my son learned a little about wealth. He had made a fruit puree and then put it into the freezer, making a very tasty treat. When he pulled it out at breakfast, Elizabeth told him if he wanted to have it in front of his sisters he had to be willing to share.
Caleb had made something that was held in very high regard with his sisters. That made him (in that moment) very popular with them. They were suddenly very kind to their brother. They were also very willing to enjoy the fruit of his labor.
It made me think about wealth. When you have something that others hold in high regard, you are suddenly thrust into a position of esteem.
Wealth is an interesting thing from a biblical perspective. True wealth can always be shared. Wealth the “world” holds dear always needs to be protected. That truth caused me to ask what kind of wealth I both possess, as well as, what kind of wealth I seek.
