I love Ruby Tuesday and Church Planters

(Not Necessarily in That Order)

Today was an awesome day as I gathered with fourteen of the sharpest guys I know. This group meets every third Thursday of the month at Ruby Tuesday and then at Grace Fellowship to learn, encourage and dream about building great churches and figure out how to help launch more new reproducing churches. This is such a dynamic group that it is impossible for me to walk way not feeling stoked.

Today Michael Grose (Lead Pastor at Quarry) shared about highlights from the time he spent at the Exponetial Conference co-hosted by A New Thing. He talk about the things he learned and shared highlights from a conversation with Dave Ferguson.

Churches all over the country are seeing tremendous effectiveness as they go multi-site. This has some unique possibilities for a church like TJN and it will be something I am going to be studying over the course of the next year.

Of all the current plants in our network, I think our sister church, The Crossings in Elk River (led by Eric Dykstra) may be the closest to putting this concept into action. They have been building the church in a movie theater and have needed to expand through creativity. They are limited by the number of seats in the theater and the forced exit times. So they have invested heavily in video equipment in order to bring a video feed into another theater. If they decided to export this into adjacent communities they may be able to reach untold numbers of lost people.

With the diffaculties in finding great planters for small communities this could be an additional viable way to effect all sorts of smaller towns in Northern and Central Minnesota in a unique way.
